Luke Bennett, Ed.D.
Assistant Professor
Dr. Luke Bennett is an Assistant Professor of Digital Technology and Literacies in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction. Dr. Bennett earned his doctorate from Nova Southeastern University with two specializations: Instructional Technology and Distance Education and Curriculum Development. His research areas include teacher motivations to teach within technology-based learning environments, management and pedagogy within emerging learning spaces, and leveraging artificial intelligence in teaching and design.
Dr. Bennett's career in education spans beyond two decades and includes experience in both K-12 and higher education. His K-12 experience includes teaching in the middle/high school science classroom, time as an administrator, and time as a tech professional. In each role, he was on the forefront of integrating technologies within his classroom and led several technology initiatives. After a successful 16-year career in K-12 education, Dr. Bennett moved into faculty roles in higher education where he has served in several capacities focused on research, teaching, and course/program development. He has presented at national-level conferences, is published in peer-reviewed journals, and has worked on various grant-funded projects.
His current projects focus on identifying key factors that support motivations of both pre-service and in-service teachers to teach within tech-based learning environments, integration of extended reality spaces into learning experiences, and the use of artificial intelligence to support teaching and instructional design.
