Minors & Concentrations in Education
Education Concentrations
The Education concentration is for students majoring in the following areas and seeking to also earn secondary-level teacher certification:
- Biology
- Health Science Studies
- History
- Mathematics
- Physics/Mathematics
Students in these programs earn a BS or BA degree in their primary major, while also taking coursework to obtain secondary teacher certification. These students will complete three semesters of field-based coursework. It is ideal for students to add an Education concentration to their program by the start of their junior year.
Minors Offered by the Department of Curriculum & Instruction
The minor in Informal Education focuses on educational practices in non-school settings and is available to students with majors outside of the School of Education and also to Education majors.

The School of Education also offers minors in
- Educational Psychology (through the Department of Educational Psychology)
- Leadership Studies (through the Department of Educational Leadership)
